Crazy schedule? This Puff Pastry Snack Roll Up recipe is a delicious and easy after school snack for busy families on the go!
Now that the kids are back to school, everything has gotten a bit more hectic around here. Sports have started, and my teens always come home hungry! If dinner isn’t ready, I like to have a good snack ready for them to eat.
These easy puff pastry snack roll ups are very easy to make…a half hour from start to finish. Plus any extras can also be frozen if you want to save some for later. After you cut them into rounds, pack the extras into a freezer bag for an easy snack another day!
I like to cook with Arla Dofino because their cheeses are free from added hormones, artificial flavors and preservatives. That is something that is important to me when choosing what to feed my family. Made in Wisconsin for more than 100 years, Arla Dofino cheeses are good from farm to fridge, and include a range of family friendly cheeses.
Easy Puff Pastry Snack Roll Ups
The first thing you are going to want to do is take your puff pastry out of the freezer and let it sit for a little bit to thaw. You need it to be pliable enough to unfold without breaking.
Put some parchment paper down over a cookie sheet, and spread a little flour over to the top to avoid having your puff pastry stick. Roll the puff pastry out a little, then add your toppings.
For our after school snacks, I made two different options: Turkey, Havarti, and Pesto, and Ham, Gouda and Spinach.
For the Turkey, Havarti, and Pesto Puff Pastry Snack Roll Ups, I spread the pesto across the top of the puff pastry, then layered the turkey and cheese on top. Just a hint with the cheese…a soft cheese like Havarti is a lot easier to grate if you put it in the freezer for a little bit first!
For the Ham, Gouda and Spinach Roll Ups, I layered the spinach, then ham, then cheese.
Once you are done layering, start rolling your puff pastry into a cylinder. Brush the cylindrical roll with olive oil and cut it into one inch rounds. Another handy tip is to put the roll in the freezer for a few minutes first…it will make it easier to cut.
Press together the ends of the rounds to seal if you need to. Add a new piece of parchment paper, unfloured, on top of your cookie sheets, and place your rounds on top.
Cook for fifteen minutes at 400 degrees, and they’re ready to go!
